Lupe's Burritos: Authentic Mexican Delights in East Los Angeles

Oh.mai.gawd!! It's been over a week I had that delicious bean, cheese and green Chile burrito and I've fiend for it every day since. It's so good especially with their red salsa. I think I paid less than $8 for that piece of heaven. So much better than the other well known bean and cheese burrito in the area from what I recall. And I love meat in my burritos but that cheesy paradise has become my favorite; cheese so gooey that it stretches like slime. No wonder there's always a line and people are inconsiderately making up parking spots next to the train tracks making of the area a typical East LA parking desmadre! I'm definitely returning for more soon! However, parking is horrible. They do have a small lot and you basically park wherever you find space enough for your car. And there's some parking spots along the street and people also park next to the metro tracks as I mentioned above. There's a line and a loooong wait for your food. Everyone huddles together anxiously awaiting for their number to be called. Most people eat in their cars, making the parking situation unnecessarily worse. I saw entire families having picnics in their car while cars waited for parking like vultures. The other half take it to go like I did and I instead went to the nearby civic center with plenty of parking and better scenery to eat my burrito, it's just a block away. No one stressing me to give them my parking spot which someone was already waiting on before I even got my number called. If you have social anxiety, I wouldn't recommend this place but if you're a foodie like me.. It's worth the temporary discomfort and annoyance. The customer service was not pleasant either but I guess I'll be overwhelmed too with so much constant activity. Their menu doesn't have any prices or descriptions but if you ask the cashier for a printed menu, it'll have both.

Bean and cheese burrito was delicious, we shared a hard shell ground beef taco which was crunchy and packed with flavor! We visited Lupe's on a Monday before 4pm. No waiting to place the order, we found plenty of parking on site. My order number was called several times despite me acknowledging my order within 5 feet of distance from the staff. Order filled correctly and in less than 7 minutes. We will return.

Food showed up fresh delicious but I was missing the shredded beef in my burrito which sucks cause it was my first time trying and I paid a lot in delivery fees. Really awesome food though.

Lupes’s is my new favorite place to eat every time I visit LA! Strongly reminds me of The Original Chubbys in Denver, Colorado! I highly recommend the bean, cheese and green burrito along with a taco dorado! They’re very delicious and the salsa is very good too! The beans and cheese are full of flavor! The best Tex-mex style food in California!

Parking was intimidating but it worked out! We waited about an hour for our food but it did not disappoint. Carne asada fries and asada nachos supreme were bomb! The meat, chefs kiss! Perfect flavor and not greasy! Tender meat! The crunchy ground beef tacos and shredded beef tacos were amazing! The bean and cheese burrito was FIRE!!! The beans are special! My whole family loved everything! The salsa was good too! Prices were great value for what we got and we drove two hours to try it out! Will return!

So we went to Lupe's Burritos to compare their Tacos Durados to Chuy's Tacos in DTLA. There's been some Tiktok videos professing that Lupe's has better Tacos than Chuy's, so we had to see for ourselves. These tacos were delicious, BUUUUUT they don't stand a chance compared to Chuy's!!!! Chuy's definitely knocks them out of the park!!!! Would I go back? You might ask... If I'm famished and in the area, pressed for time... absolutely!!! But I'd rather drive 15 minutes farther to Chuy's for THEIR Tacos Durados!!! Be it a scorching day or thunderous, stormy weather!!! The difference is the size of the Tacos, the taste, the pickled onions and the inside dining room. Also, if you're penny pinching, the Tacos at Chuy's are 30 cents less at $4.35 each. Two tacos fills me up, but the 2 tacos at Lupe's didn't feel like enough. And I'm not a big eater. The service was great. Friendly staff...!! Outside eating... So we shared our seats with flies all around. The area was clean, but I guess due to the nearby trash containers, we had these pests hovering over.

My first time here, I enjoyed a couple of tacos and a double cheeseburger everything was pretty good the hot sauce is no joke! They have a decent menu for being a smaller spot. Waited in line for about 5 minutes before ordering, once I did waited for another 10 minutes or so then received my food. Seating is minimal as well as parking. Prices are decent and staff work as fast as they can to get you served.

Nice place along 3rd St. Great atmosphere of East Los Angeles. Love the setup at this location. Plenty of parking and the place clean. No public restrooms. Food, portions and service was good. Can't lose here.
